Hey you..yeah you! Do you like low-scoring and sloppy games? Do you enjoy watching Mother Nature try and ruin a game with tons of rain? If so, the Broncos vs. Jets match-up was the perfect game for you. In the rain, the 1-2 Broncos would face off in a soaked MetLife Stadium vs. the 2-1Jets. The first quarter was nothing more than a snooze fest with the first drive by the Jets ending on a fumble on 3rd down. The 2 teams would then exchange a series in 6 3 and out punts, and the quarter would end the same way it started, but with the Broncos fumbling the ball on 3rd down instead. The quarter would end with the Broncos totaling -14 yards and 1 TO and the Jets with 0 yards and 1 TO. Yikes, that’s a rough way to start a game. In quarter number 2, the Jets open things up with a 6-play 23-yard drive ending in a FG. After which, the 2 would exchange another 5 punts. Similarly, the quarter ended the way it started with the Packers kicking another FG. Ending the half 6-0 with the Jets on top. With one of the worst halves I’ve seen, I was tempted to just turn the game off and call it a day. I mean, neither team was really successful or fun to watch. It was almost sad. Bo Nix finished the half with -7 passing yards on 15 attempts a feat that truly seems impossible, terrible, and impressive at the same time. Well, onto quarter number 3, this quarter would wrap up in 3 drives, 2 more punts, and a Bo Nix passing touchdown. After 4 weeks, it felt like a breath of fresh air till you realized that the air was still stagnant and filled with the stench from the rest of the game. Oh, well. Quarter 4 would start with both teams kicking a Field Goal and then followed by you guessed it 2 more punts. With the Broncos up 10-9, the Jets had to get desperate and go for it on the 4th. DC Vance Joseph dialed up a perfect blitz, sending S PJ Locke on a path straight to Aaron Rodgers lighting him and forcing a TO on downs. After failing to pick up a first down and with the game on the line, Sean Payton called in the kicking team to try a 50-yard FG. And wouldn’t you believe it Wil Lutz pulled it to the left and missed. The Jets now had an opportunity to clutch the game and win the slop fest. And after 4 plays, the Jets stalled out and sent in the kicking squad to attempt, wait for it, a 50-yard FG…which Greg Zuerlein missed wide right. The Jets have done the unthinkable and snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. With the game already won, the Broncos would kneel out the rest of the time ending the game with Denver up 10-9 ending the week 2-2. Yeah not much to see about the game…it was bad like really bad. Bo Nix got his first passing touchdown. He also ended the game with positive passing yards (60). He didn’t seem to let the game get to him like I feel most rookies would. The defense is legit. Holding future HOF QB Aaron Rodgers to 0 touchdowns and only 57% on his completions is no easy task. Also, add in the 5 sacks and held Breece Hall to 10 carriers for 4 yards. It’s not an easy task, but this defense has been up to challenge 4 straight weeks. Hopefully, we continue to see this offense put together more and more throughout the season.
