Rookie QB vs a Steel Defense a tale of offensive woes.

The Broncos have wrapped up Week 2 with a less-than-stellar performance against the Steelers. Let’s take a look at the game and see if we can find some bright notes.

QTR1: Neither team could muster any sort of a drive in the first part of this Qtr with the Broncos punting twice and the Steelers punting once. The Steelers would eventually get something going as they would go on a 12-play drive to score the one and only TD of the game.

QTR2: Not much to say about this Qtr. Both teams really failed to muster up anything and would exchange punts. The Steelers would eventually break the mold and drive up the field to get FG to wrap up the first half.

QTR3: New half same results as both teams failed to get anything going. The only highlight of the Qtr would be the Steelers picking off Bo Nix. However, they once again failed to do much with it, only getting an FG, and both teams would punt several times within the Qtr.

QTR4: Would it surprise you if I told you that neither team could muster up much other than dead drives and FGs? The only difference is the Broncos decided to actually score this QTR, kick 2 FGs….and, just for the heck of it, throw another pick.

So yeah it wasn’t exactly the most entertaining of games to watch. Hard to tell if it was 2 stout defenses getting the better of the offenses or 2 subpar offenses getting in the way of themselves.

So what we learned is that this team has a lot of work ahead, and a ton of cleaning up to do. Something I’d like to see is more from the ground game….like a lot more from the ground game. We have solid RBs yet we seem to forget about them. Javonte Williams had 11 carries for 17 yards, Jaleel McLaughlin only had 3 carries for 6 yards, and rookie Tyler Badie had 1 touch for 16 yards. Bo led the entire team in yards with 25….that’s a rough way to play the game. You’d like to see a Rookie QB who’s struggling to connect down the field and has trouble getting into rhythm be able to lean on the ground game a lot more. However, we are keeping to an air raid offense that hasn’t worked out well for us. It’s only week 2 and it’s still early in the season to make the crucial adjustments that are needed. It’s a young team with some serious potential. I have faith that Sean can get this team running smoothly and efficiently it just might take a little time.  Keep hanging in there Broncos Countr. In week 3 we face off against the red-hot Buccaneers.
