Broncos vs Seahawks

We made it ladies and gents week 1 of the season is in the books for the Denver Broncos.
I think it’s safe to say that heading into this week there were a lot of questions especially surrounding the offense, and more specifically around rookie QB Bo Nix. Even though we lost I do think there are some bright spots to take away from this.

QTR: The Seahawks got the ball to start the first half, and quickly the Broncos’ Defense would try and set the tone of the game. On the first snap LB Jonathan Cooper sacked Geno Smith forcing them into a second and long. On the very next play, the pressure got to Geno forcing him to throw an ill-advised throw directly to LB Alex Singleton. Unfortunately, the offense couldn’t muster much and would have to settle for a FG. Both teams would end the QTR with a FG apiece.

QTR2: The Broncos defense would double down and try to take control of the game. In the next several plays the Seahawks would turn the ball over 3 times with 2 safeties and 1 muffed punt return. Bo put together a nice-looking drive down into the Seahawks’ side of the field and threw what would have been a game-changing TD, but safety Julian Love read the play perfectly and was able to pick the pass in the endzone ending one of the better drives of the game. The Broncos would have to settle for 2 more FGs for the rest of the QTR. Geno would score the first touchdown of the game after he found a hole in the Broncos’ defense and took it to the house on a 34-yard run. They would attempt a 2-point conversion but couldn’t connect.  Making the score for the half 13-9 Broncos lead.

QRT3: The Broncos would lay a goose egg in the 3rd QTR unable to get anything going at all only mustering together 14 yards. The Seahawks would see a much more productive QTR with Kenneth Walker rushing for a 23-yard touchdown. They would also kick a FG to make the score 19-13 with the Seahawks taking the lead into QTR4

QTR4: We start this QTR with Geno fining a wide-open Zach Charbonnet for an easy touchdown. The 2 teams would exchange punts. After that, the Broncos and QB Bo Nix would start another nice-looking drive going deep into the Seahawks territory. Bo would attempt to hit Courtland Sutton but unfortunately found Seahawks CB Tariq Woolen ending another promising drive. The Seahawks would be unable to move the ball after the pic and would punt. Denver would start 1 more decent drive and this time capitalize with a 4-yard touchdown rush by Bo Nix. The game would soon end with the Seahawks running out the clock making the final score 26-20 with the Broncos starting the season 0-1.

So was it great? No, it was a rough game to watch, but I think we all understood that the first few games this season would be tough. If we have a rookie QB and a young roster there will be growing pains. The playcalling seemed rather stale throughout the game but I think it was designed to help settle Bo into the game. We faced off against a HC who’s known for his dominating defenses and we came back beaten and bruised but alive and went down swinging to the end. We have a competitive team that will fight in every game, and that’s what you want. It’s nice to watch a game being played with some passion. So don’t give up on Bo or this team just show them a little patience and give them some time. So buckle up Broncos Country it’s gonna be a bumpy ride
