Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs beat Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills in the playoffs… again. This time in Buffalo. Mahomes is now 3-0 against the Bills in the playoffs.
The Bills would receive the opening kickoff and have an extended drive of 14 plays for almost 7 minutes but would be forced to settle for a field goal. On the Chiefs first drive they would drive but would do what they have been doing recently and stall and have to kick a field goal. The Bills would get the ball back and have another 6+ minute drive, this time resulting in a TD thanks to an Allen rush. The Chiefs would settle for another FG on their next drive to cut the lead to 10-6. The Chiefs’ defense would finally get a stop a force Buffalo to punt. This Chiefs drive would result in their first TD of the game when Mahomes hit a wide open Kelce for a touchdown. However, this Bills would answer on their next drive to take the lead back with another Josh Allen touchdown run. This would be the last score before the half. Bills led 17-13.
The Chiefs got the ball to start the second half and went 75 yards for a touchdown to regain the lead. This was another Mahomes to Kelce touchdown. Once again though, the Bills would answer with a long drive for a touchdown to take the lead back. KC got the ball back and put together another solid drive that also ended in a touchdown. This time it was a Pacheco 4 yard run. The Bills next drive would stall quickly and they tried a direct snap to Damar Hamlin on 4th down on a fake punt but it failed. Lucky for the Bills the Chiefs would drive down to the one before Mecole Hardman would fumble the ball through the end zone resulting in a touchback. The Bills would go 3 and out again but the Chiefs couldn’t capitalize and had to punt as well. The Bills had the opportunity to take the lead or tie the game late and were driving. The had to settle for a field goal attempt with just under 2 minutes left. But 2 words that haunt the Bills occurred… “wide right.” That would give the Chiefs the ball and with a first down would end it. 2 straight runs by Pacheco would pick up a first down and seal the game. The Chiefs walked out of Buffalo with a 27-24 win.
