Eagles Notes:
The first half of the game went really bad. Brian Johnson continues to show inconsistencies in the decision-making. His philosophy is that quick passes, screens, and play action are extensions of the run game. Those are not the run game. Running the ball is the run game. Passing the ball is the passing game. It is that simple but I do not think he understands that. There also is not enough no huddle in this offense which could take the team to another level. Jack Driscoll came in for an injured Lane Johnson and played solid enough considering he was not supposed to play hours earlier. The defense was playing well all around outside of Josh Allen’s scrambling. Miscues and freak plays led to turnovers. Kenneth Gainwell decided not to grab a ball put into his chest resulting in a fumble that was credited to Jalen Hurts. A tipped pass that popped up in the air was intercepted. It was likely the worst first half of Jalen Hurts’ career. Then the second half came in and the defense started getting a little tired. The offense was sparked by running the ball with D’Andre Swift. Hurts was able to make key throws to everyone on the offense. The touchdown pass to Olamide Zaccheaus was one of the best throws I have seen Hurts make and on a crucial drive in the game. The officiating in this game was pretty bad. Definitely, crucial calls that were not made. There was a tackle on Josh Allen that should have been a horse collar considering Allen’s collar was ripped. Some people will say it was not intentional grounding on that play but the ball went straight into the ground about 7-8 yards away from anyone. I do not talk about pass interference or holding calls cause those are subjective and the most controversial in football. Jake Elliott’s 58-yard field goal in the rain was arguably the greatest field goal I have ever witnessed. To do that to tie the game in that weather was incredible. The coverage on the Bills overtime drive was not great and the Eagles capitalized off of the Bills mistakes. The Eagles overtime drive was calm and everything was going right. The Bill bit on a standard Jalen Hurts run which won the Eagles the game. An incredible game and one of the best of the year. Winning against Kansas City and Buffalo is amazing. If the Eagles can beat the 49ers then I will have confidence I have never felt as an Eagles fan.
