The Oklahoma State Cowboys come erase a 24-6 halftime deficit to beat BYU and clinch a spot in the Big 12 Championship Game!
The Cowboys got on the board first with a FG on their first drive. The OSU defense then forced a Cougar fumble with led to another OSU field goal to go up 6-0. Then Oklahoma State started going down hill for the reminder of the 1st half. Both teams would trade punts before BYU found the end zone to go out in front. Later in the half, Alan Bowman would throw a pick-6 which gave BYU a 14-6 lead. BYU would then tack on another TD and FG before the end of the 1st half. At halftime it was all Cougars with them leading the Cowboys by the score of 24-6.
The Cowboys would force a BYU punt on the opening drive of the half, and then would drive down to score their first touchdown of the game. Several punts, an OSU interception, and then another BYU punt would all occur before OSU would find the end zone again. This time they would go for 2 and get it to cut the BYU lead to 3. More punts would occur. The Cowboys would drive down late in the 4th quarter and found the end zone but the PAT was blocked by the Cougars. The BYU Cougars would answer and score for the first time in the 2nd half to tie the game and send it into OT.
BYU would get the ball first in the 1st overtime and would go down and punch it in from 6 yards out. The Cowboys would answer with a TD run of their own and would get the PAT this time to tie the game and send it into a 2nd OT.
The Oklahoma State Cowboys would get the ball first to start the 2nd OT and would go down and run it in with Ollie Gordon from 2 yards out. This was Ollie’s 5th rushing touchdown of the game. OSU however would fail their 2 point try. BYU had the chance to answer but after a solid pick up of 8, the Cowboys stripped the ball at the end of the play and recovered the fumble to walk away with the 40-34 win and clinch a Big 12 Championship Game appearance.
