The Browns lost a heartbreaker in Seattle.
The Cleveland Browns traveled to the beautiful city of Seattle this past week to take on the Seahawks high powered offense. The defense did its job for Cleveland, for the most part. But there is only so much a defense can do when you have PJ Walker at QB, waiting eagerly to turn the ball over any chance he can get. Ultimately, the Browns lost on a last-second TD pass from Geno Smith to JSN. Final score: 24-20.
As stated, the Browns defense is simply amazing. They played extremely well, as they have been all year. Geno Smith was baited into throwing two interceptions, and Myles Garrett had constant pressure throughout the day. Kenneth Walker was held to under 80 yards rushing. The Seahawks were up 17-7 after one quarter, but the Browns came storming back late to take a 20-17 lead late.
The Browns offense now… Did not do its job. The rushing game was solid, with the Browns racking up 150+ rushing yards on 4 YPC. The QB play, however, was not. PJ Walker threw 2 Interceptions, completed less than 50% of his passes, and missed two wide-open targets on an extremely crucial late game play. The Browns opted to punt after his pass was off target. The Seahawks would score the game-winning TD.
I don’t blame the D for giving up that late TD. They were constantly on the field, they were exhausted, and made big plays all game long. Not much they could do with the way PJ Walker was chucking the ball to the other team and looking lost in the pocket. In good news, he seems to be building a rapport with Amari Cooper, as the WR finished with 6 receptions for 89 yards.
