This week was surprising, and possibly no game was as surprising as the Patriots’ 29-25 victory over the Bills. Before this game, we found out that Bill Belichick had signed an extension with the Patriots in the off-season as the news broke out earlier that Sunday morning and he returned the favor by beating the Bills.
Mac Jones looked great in this game. He showed what he could do when he had time to throw. Let’s just hope this isn’t a one-time thing. But here is the thing with Mac, while you can win with Mac Jones, you won’t win because of Mac Jones. In this game, he went 25/30 with 272 Passing yards and 2 TDs but he can’t seem to do this every week. The Patriots will have to sit and decide do they extend him as his fifth-year option will be coming up, or let him go and start new. With the extension Belichick has received I believe Mac is here to stay.
Demario Douglas had a pretty solid game with 4 catches for 54 yards. He seems like he could be worth the late-round pick as he improves a little each game. He may prove to be a reliable target if this improves and who knows maybe he will break out as a WR1.
Overall, the Patriots looked good against their division rivals, or did the Bills just do bad? The Bills Super Bowl window seems to be slamming shut sooner than they expected. Not every team can be the Patriots and dominate for nearly 20 years. It’s looking like the AFC East belongs to the Dolphins and the Bills are just along for the ride.
