Embarrassment doesn’t even begin to describe the feelings I had after watching this game. The Chief is still doing 360 in his grave. But the question is who’s to blame? It has to start at the tippy top, ARII. As an NFL owner, you can’t continue to allow a wildly inconsistent product to be put on the field. I understand Grandpa preached consistency but he never watched anything like this for three years. Canada has to go. There is no way to get a proper read on what this team can be if the calls coming in are elementary. Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren give 150% to get three yards after being hit in the backfield. When your offensive coordinator utters the sentence “My offense isn’t built to come from behind” that can’t win games. That won’t win games. Kenny Pickett may not be the answer but we won’t know until someone works with him to improve. When the internet can see his faults and the coaching isn’t fixing them that’s a problem. Tomlin had promised changes but I doubt it’ll be anything that’s dramatic.
The offense suffered some key injuries as Kenny, Pat and Dan Moore left the game and could miss some time. Rookies Broderick Jones and Darrell Washington filled in well. Najee Harris had a good game on the ground which leads to more questions as to why the play was called that got Kenny hurt and Matt Canada’s competence. The offense needs a major overhaul and it starts with the leader plain and simple.
The defense was just as disappointing. The Texans were starting a line with mostly backups. The front seven got hardly any pressure and rookie CJ Stroud had 306 yards, 2 TDs, and a 111.3 passer rating. Niko Collins looked like Deandre Hopkins burning the secondary for 7 catches 178 yards and 2 TDs. Patrick Peterson looks washed and should be replaced by Joey Porter Jr.
After two embarrassing losses during early games, this has me wondering if the Steelers are the anti-Kirk Cousins, only shining bright at night. Luckily the Steelers are on to the Ravens and Lamar Jackson whom they’ve dominated in three starts regardless of the time.
