After last week’s game I said we could rely on the defense to give us multiple turnovers, so obviously the defense forced three. The win against Purdue shouldn’t surprise Badger fans as the last loss came in 2003. What should have surprised them was the impressive four-quarter game. This year’s team has started slowly in every game being close or behind at halftime. The offense had two touchdowns before Purdue even stepped foot in Wisconsin territory. They were up 18 before they even crossed the goal line. The third quarter saw Purdue draw within ten before the Badgers blanked them in the fourth and added 11 of their own.
Tanner Mordecai had a mediocre game through the air completing 17 of 27 passes for 174 yards and an interception. He did have 44 on the ground with two touchdowns. Braelon Allen shouldered most of the ground game toting the rock 16 times for 116 yards and adding two touchdowns. The job looks to be squarely on his shoulders as Chez Mellusi suffered a pretty gnarly leg injury towards the end of the game. He’ll have an extra week to recover as the Badgers head into the bye week 3-1 and firmly in charge of the final B1G West title.
