The Philadelphia Eagles[3-0] defeat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers[2-1] 25-11. Next week, the Eagles host the Washington Commanders while the Buccaneers travel to play the New Orleans Saints.
1st Quarter: Eagles Kicker Jake Elliott kicks a 36-yard field goal.
2nd Quarter: Buccaneers Kicker Chase McLaughlin makes a 33-yard field goal. Eagles Quarterback Jalen Hurts throws a 34-yard touchdown to Wide Receiver Olamide Zaccheaus. Eagles Safety Reed Blankenship gets an interception off off Buccaneers Quarterback Baker Mayfield and gives the Eagles the ball at the Tampa Bay 37-yard line. Jalen Hurts throws an interception to Inside Linebacker Devin White who returns it to the Tampa Bay 43-yard line. Eagles Defensive Tackle Jalen Carter forced a fumble on Bucs Running Back Rachaad White and Cornerback James Bradberry recovered on the Tampa Bay 36-yard line. Jake Elliott kicks a 38-yard field goal. The Eagles lead at halftime 13-3.
3rd Quarter: Jalen Hurts runs in a 1-yard touchdown on their famous QB sneak. Jalen Hurts throws an interception to Cornerback Dee Delaney who gives the Buccaneers the ball at their own 1-yard line. Eagles Linebacker Nicholas Morrow forces a safety following the interception.
4th Quarter: Jake Elliott kicks a 26-yard field goal for the Eagles. Baker Mayfield throws a 1-yard touchdown to Wide Receiver Mike Evans(2-point conversion is successful with a completion to Wide Receiver Chris Godwin). The Eagles won 25-11.
Eagles Notes:
Jalen Hurts-Shaky start to the season. This was clearly his worst game. 2 Interceptions and some questionable decisions. My thought is that the Eagles should run the ball more to create more effective pass plays. His accuracy has been off. Maybe the bad weather in each game was a result of that and hopefully, it will change.
A.J. Brown-Fantastic game for A.J. I’m we needed a Wide Receiver to stand out against the Bucs and he showed up. He also shut up everyone, including myself, on his argument with Hurts last week. Keep going dawg.
Jalen Carter-Every week he is the best player on the field. Nobody can block him and he always demands multiple blockers. Today he decided to drop back and then forced a fumble. Outstanding play for the defensive rookie of the year so far.
Josh Jobe-I still have no idea why he is getting more playing time than Kelee Ringo and Eli Ricks. He also was lining up with Mike Evans which is an awful decision. The third cornerback spot is the worst position on this team and hopefully, Ringo or Ricks get more playing time.
Offensive Play Calling-Again with a slow start but eventually Brian Johnson went back to the run game to dominate the Buccaneers which shocked me with how good the Tampa Bay run defense normally is. There were also empty gun plays where there were three tight ends and Kenneth Gainwell out wide which was an awful play concept. We have A.J. Brown and Olamide Zaccheaus who should have been out there. This should be a learning experience for Brian Johnson just like last week against the Vikings.
Defensive Play Calling-Start off rough with having Jobe in a deep zone against Mike Evans which should never happen. Finally got the 5-man front going later in the game which was outstanding and ultimately a game changer.
