Eagles Hit With Injury Bug In Tie With Browns

The Philadelphia Eagles[0-1-1] and Cleveland Browns[1-1-1] tied 18-18 in week 2 of the preseason. Next week, the Eagles host the Colts while the Browns travel to play the Chiefs.

1st Quarter: On 1st and Goal from the Philadelphia 1-yard line, Eagles Linebacker Nakobe Dean forces Browns Running Back John Kelly Jr. to fumble, and Eagles Safety K’Von Wallace Recovers. Eagles Running Back Kenneth Gainwell is stuffed in the endzone resulting in a safety. Eagles Kicker Jake Elliott connects for a 56-yard field goal. Marcus Mariota overthrows Tight End Grant Calcaterra and the pass is intercepted by Safety Ronnie Hickman.

2nd Quarter: Browns Kicker Cade York makes a 43-yard field goal to give the Browns the lead. Eagles Running Back Trey Sermon fumbles the ball and the Browns recover at the Philadelphia 45-yard line. Cade York hits a 37-yard field goal for the Browns. The Browns lead at halftime 8-3.

3rd Quarter: Trey Sermon runs in a 33-yard touchdown on the opening possession of the second half to take the lead. Browns Quarterback Kellen Mond throws a pass which was juggled and caught by Wide Receiver Austin Watkins for a 32-yard touchdown.

4th Quarter: Cade York makes a 43-yard field goal for the Browns. Eagles Quarterback Tanner McKee finds Tight End Brady Russell for a 22-yard touchdown(2-point conversion is successful with a McKee pass to Wide Receiver Johnny King). Cade York misses a 41-yard field goal with 1:52 left in the game. Neither team scored again and the Browns and Eagles tie 18-18.

Key Eagles of the Game:

Zech McPhearson-Struggled majorly at outside Cornerback spots as well as a return specialist. He ended up getting an ankle injury but aside from that it looks like McPhearson might only have a spot as a gunner.

Nolan Smith-Left the game early with a shoulder injury but besides that, he was chasing down Gold Medalist Anthony Schwartz and beating everyone on the offensive line. I loved watching him today.

Marcus Mariota-Completely different player from last week. Mariota was awful passing and did not run very often. This is not what I want out of the backup to Hurts.

Christian Elliss-This dude is a dawg. I have no idea where this guy came from but all off-season, all training camp, and all preseason he has been balling. Stamp the starter tag on him cause he will be lining up with Nakobe Dean in week 1.

Trey Sermon-Struggled very early and fumbled the ball in the first half. Second half he came back stronger and scored a touchdown. There’s potential here with the depth we have and I liked how Jalen Hurts went over to support Sermon after the fumble. Great way to bounce back.

Tanner McKee-Just make him the backup Quarterback. He looks so good but is held back by playing with all this practice squad or third-string players. A lot of dropped passed but a lot of dimes from McKee. The Eagles are going to get calls for him soon.

Injuries-A lot of injuries and 2 neck injuries from Tyrie Cleveland and Moro Ojomo. Both Cleveland and Ojomo have movement in their extremities. Nolan Smith, Zech McPhearson, and Olamide Zaccheaus also had injuries, but all three came back looking fine.
