Bennett and Nacua Shine for Rams in Battle of LA

In your yearly Charger Ram preseason matchup, we saw a lot of positives (and negatives) from these young players. Starting in the first quarter there wasn’t a lot of action, the Charger’s backup QB Easton Stick looked solid leading the Chargers down the field for two field goals. The Ram’s preseason starter Brett Rypien struggled in his start going 3/6 and a whopping total of 11 yards

Five minutes into the second quarter we saw a fantastic 81-yard punt return for a touchdown by Darius Davis. On the next drive Stetson Bennett made his Rams debut, leading the Rams down the field for his first touchdown pass to Puka Nacua. This was followed by a chargers touchdown.

In the third quarter, we saw a Royce Freeman touchdown off a toss and receiver Tyler Johnson rack up some yards. Royce had 7 carries for 26 yards and TD. Johnson had the most receiving yards on the Rams gaining 70 yards on 5 receptions.

In the fourth quarter, we didn’t really see anything too positive from this Rams team. We saw a kicker wearing the number 49 (Tanner Brown) make his first field goal. To end the game Bennett went 17/29, 191 yards, and a TD. This Rams team is very young and is going to take its lumps, but in my eyes this was a promising start.

Your final score in this one was Chargers 34, Rams 17. Player Stats provided by NFL.com
