All good things must come to an end, and they did this past weekend when the Yanks lost their first series of 2023.
Obviously we all knew that they weren’t going to win every series all season long, this one just stings a little bit extra having it be against a division rival and playing at home.
The Yankees bats were held in check this series, managing to score just 5 runs total (they were held to a single run in Games 1 and 3). They also left 21 players on base and struck out 24 times… This was my concern coming into this year, consistent hitting. Sure, we have a bunch of injuries, but even adding back a Josh Donaldson or Harrison Bader doesn’t change a whole lot to this offense. I’m not saying it’s a bad lineup, we just need to stay consistent. When we’re hot, we’re red hot. When we’re cold, we’re ice cold… We need some middle ground if we’re going to contend in the 2nd half.
