Oklahoma State Cowgirl softball sweeps KU.

Cowgirl softball continues their winning ways with a 3 game sweep over Big 12 rival Kansas Jayhawks.

Game 1 of the series took place on Thursday and resulted in a 7-5 Cowgirl win. The Cowgirls had 4 run 2nd inning and held that lead until the 5th, this is when KU started chipping away at the lead plating 2 runs. OSU responded with a run of their own in the 6th, but KU stormed back with 3 of their own to tie it at 5 going into the final frame. In the top of the 7th, Micaela Wark cranked a 2-run homer to give the Cowgirls a 7-5 lead which would be the final.

Game 1 notable stats: Rachel Becker- 1-3, 2 RBIs, BB Micaela Wark- 3-4, HR, 2 RBIs, 2R Katelynn Carwile- 1-2, RBI, Run

Game 2 ended up being a Cowgirl 5-1 win. It was tied at 0 heading to the fifth before the Cowgirls plated 2 runs across thanks to a Kiley Noami rocket down the 3rd baseline for a homer. OSU would tack on a run in the 6th after Becker doubled to score Chyenne Factor. Oklahoma State would then tack on another 2 runs in the final frame. The Cowgirls gave up a run in the bottom of the 7th but still won 5-1.

Game 2 notable stats: Kelly Maxwell- 6.0 IP, 2H, 6BB, 11K Kiley Noami- 3-4, HR, 2RBI, 2R, SB

Game 3 was all Cowgirls and they got the win 7-0, all 7 runs were scored in the first 2 innings. 4 runs in the first and 3 in the second would be all Oklahoma State could get but was more than enough for the win. The biggest hit of the game was a Rachel Becker home run that hit the building over the right field wall.

What’s next?

The Kansas Jayhawks (19-17) will start a 3 game series on the 14th against the Texas Longhorns (33-8-1).

The Oklahoma State Cowgirls (35-3) will have to midweek games. Tuesday against the Tulsa Hurricanes (16-20) and then on Wednesday against the UT Arlington Mavericks (14-18). The the Cowgirls will return to Big 12 play with a weekend series against the Iowa State Cyclones (12-22) in Stillwater.
