The defending AL East Champions began their regular season with a 3 game series at home against the San Francisco Giants.

There were plenty of story lines for the Yanks coming into the opener… None bigger than perhaps the youngster playing shortstop! Top prospect, Anthony Volpe, won the job in spring training and became the youngest opening day player for the club since Derek Jeter in 96’.

Volpe picked up his first MLB hit in the bottom of the 2nd inning during Game 2 (off of Alex Cobb). Volpe also stole a base in each of the 3 games!
