The NFL Draft is my favorite night of the year. Nothing fills me with more optimism and joy than hearing “Welcome to the NFL Draft” as the boos reign down as Roger Goodell takes the stage. I even get custom cakes made for my friends if their team has the number 1 overall pick. Over the next five weeks, I will be discussing who I want in the NFL Draft.
Out of Boston College arose who in my opinion is the best WR in this draft. Flowers can run crisp routes and can run any route, just watch this combine and his games from BC. He has good concentration and makes sure to secure the ball. He is a reliable target with big play ability. I want to turn to the 2nd Quarter of the Rutgers game, at 5:31 Flowers runs a beautiful dig route, that turns into a 26-yard TD with 10 YAC. Another play I want to look at is against Wake Forest. With 6:00 left to go against WF, Flowers runs right up the middle of the field and was wide open to secure a 41-yard TD. Flowers also isn’t afraid to go up and grab the ball. In the game against Louisville, he had 5 receptions for 151 yards and 2 TDs. At 12:13 he went up between two defenders and caught a 57-yard TD.
At the combine Flowers showed off his elite route running skills, making every route look easy. He ran a 4.42 and caught every ball but one in the gauntlet. He measured 5’9″ and weighed 182.
His biggest weakness to me is his hands. He uses his body to catch passes and that may make him an easy target for defenders.
NFL Comparison: Tyler Lockett
Richard Gantz
