Week 2 for the new XFL San Antonio Brahmas franchise ended better than week 1. Jack Coan who had an impressive week 1 showing looked even better in week 2. Coan went 16 of 24 for 165 yards and 3 touchdowns. The win was Coan’s first as a professional, and also marked the first win for Head Coach Hines Ward. The coach made drastic changes to help elevate the sting from last week’s fourth-quarter loss. Moving his coordinators to the box for a better view and being more aggressive in the passing game to rattle the quarterback with more blitzes.
The defense shut down the Guardians after an opening drive touchdown, forcing five punts and a missed field goal on the next six drives. They also had two sacks and one interception.
The offense needed a special performance from Coan as the lethal rushing attack from week one was stifled, as Coan was also the leading rusher with 23 yards. Adjustments were made however as the Brahmas went into the locker room at the half with -7 rushing yards and ended with a total of 66 yards as a team for the game.
Next week the Brahmas take on in-state rival Houston Roughnecks on Sunday Night Football
