The Philadelphia Eagles defeat the San Francisco 49ers 31-7 in the NFC Championship game.
1st Quarter
On the first drive, Jalen Hurts finds DeVonta Smith for a 29-yard completion on 4th down to set up first and goal for the Eagles. The ball seemed to hit the ground but the Eagles snapped the next play before any replay. Brock Purdy is hit by Haason Reddick and forces a fumble which is recovered by Linval Joseph. Purdy hurts his elbow on the play and Josh Johnson comes in. An Eagles punt apparently hits a camera wire but no video footage could determine it did so the punt was 34-yards.
2nd Quarter
Christian McCaffrey runs in a 23-yard touchdown to tie the game. On the following drives, Miles Sanders runs in a 13-yard touchdown to regain the lead. Josh Johnson fumbles the snap and the Eagles recover in 49ers territory. Boston Scott runs in a 10-yard touchdown to end the half with the Eagles leading 21-7.
3rd Quarter
Josh Johnson has a concussion and is ruled out for the rest of the game. Brock Purdy comes in despite his injury. Jalen Hurts takes a QB sneak for a 1-yard touchdown.
4th Quarter
49ers, unable to pass with an injured Quarterback, turn the ball over on downs. Jake Elliott adds a 31-yard field goal following the turnover on downs. Following a fight on the field, 49ers Left Tackle Trent Williams and Eagles Safety K’Von Wallace are ejected. On 4th down, Deebo Samuel fumbles the ball and Reed Blankenship recovers. The Eagles run out the clock and win 31-7.
Wild start to the game. NFL has a lot of maintenance issues with cameras and chains that they need to fix. I do not understand why the Eagles passed the ball as much as they did when the run game was working. Despite a 24 point game, it should not have been as close as it was. The Eagles capitalized off of 49ers injuries and undisciplined mistakes. Hurts seemed off on deep passes, putting air under the ball including on a pass which should have been a touchdown to A.J. Brown. Defense played lights out all game long. Only issue was tackling Christian McCaffrey which should be fixed heading into the Super Bowl. Super Bowl here we come!!!
