Wild split the week…again and go 2-2

1/8 vs Blues (19-18-3) loss 3-0

Simply put the offense couldn’t get anything going as they were shut out. Gustavsson did what he could stopping 21 of 23. The Wild lost for the first time in eight games this season against an opponent on the second half of a back-to-back set of games. The game got worse for the Wild before it got better. Ryan Hartman and Joel Eriksson Ek both left with injuries in the second period, leaving the team with only nine forwards for several shifts. Both Hartman and Eriksson Ek returned for the third period.

1/10 @ Rangers (22-12-7) loss 4-3

In this game, the offense was able to get a few past the Rangers’ goalie. The defense struggled this game and Fleury let up 3 goals, but stopped 40 of 43. He just let up 1 too many in the shootout. The Wild didn’t play badly this game they just didn’t do enough to get the victory.

1/12 @ Islanders (22-17-2) WIN 3-1

The Wild came out needing a victory after a little losing streak, today they got that win. Kirill had a goal and assist to help the Wild win 3-1. Gustavsson stopped 19 of 20 shots for the Wild in the net. The defense and offense both showed up in this game and it showed what the Wild can do if they play well in both phases of the game. They waited until the 3rd period to score but they pulled out the victory.

1/14 vs Coyotes (13-20-5) WIN 2-1

This game should not have been this close at all. The Coyotes are not a good hockey team right now. Fleury stopped 27 of 28 shots. The Wild scored 2 goals within a minute in the 2nd period then that was it. They were able to finish the week 2-2 and winning the last 2. Hopefully, it’ll help carry momentum into next week.

1/17 @Washington (23-16-6)
1/19 @Carolina (27-9-7)
1/21 @Florida (20-20-4)
