The Leafs lost 2 of their 3 games this week, but did manage to secure 3 points as one of the losses came in a shootout. Matthews and Marner are leading the team in points after this week, tied at 46 a piece, while Nylander leads the team in goals with 22. Here are the individual game results:
1/3:
STL 6 TOR 5 F/SO
Lots of scoring in this one. A total of 9 goals were scored in the first 2 periods with St. Louis leading 5-4. Michael Bunting tied the game in the 3rd with his 13th goal of the season and it would remain 5-5 all the way until the shootout. The Blues would come out victorious scoring in 3 of 4 chances (Toronto was 2-4). One good thing did come out of this game however, as Auston Matthews would become the fastest Leaf of all time to 500 career points.
1/5:
SEA 5 TOR 1
Toronto wasn’t even close in this one. After Tavares tied the game at 1 in the first, The Seattle Kraken would score 4 unanswered goals to easily put Toronto away.
1/7:
DET 1 TOR 4
Toronto would finally get back into the win column in this one, with Tavares leading the way with 2 goals. Another milestone was reached in this game with Mitch Marner also joining the 500 career point mark.
The Maple Leafs resume play tonight at 7:00 PM ET in Philadelphia against the Flyers.
