The Leafs at one point lead this game 3-1 after goals from Holl (2), Tavares (15), and Kerfoot (5), but they allowed the Blues to get back into the game in the 2nd period allowing two goals to tie the game at 3. Jarnkrok (7) would put the leafs ahead going into the 3rd but it didn’t last long as the blues tied the game at 4 just over 5 minutes into the last period. The game would go to overtime where Nylander would score his team leading 21st goal to give the Leafs a rare OT win.

Toronto looked to be on track to a very rare win against the Arizona Coyotes, leading the game 3-2 entering the 3rd. Toronto would proceed to allow 4 unanswered goals in the 3rd to lose yet another game against the Coyotes. The Leafs went 0-4 against Arizona in the 2022 calendar year.
12/31:

Toronto got back on track against the defending champs, smoking them 6-2. Marner (14), Engvall (7), Bunting (10, 11), Matthews (18) and Brodie (2) all scored goals in front of Murray’s 26 saves and the Avs didn’t stand a chance.
Toronto will start the new year with a couple days off before facing the St. Louis Blues (17-17-3) on Tuesday.
