The Bills are once again your AFC East Champions! Buffalo came into week 16 either needing a win or a Miami loss and the division title was theirs. The Bills took care of business on a very chilly day in Chicago by defeating the Bears by a score on 35-13.
The first half was not pretty for Buffalo, in fact, other than an opening drive TD (Josh Allen to Gabe Davis 19 yard pass) Buffalo was shut out the remainder of the half. A Josh Allen interception, punt & missed field goal was how Buffalo ended their first half and entered halftime down 10-6 (Tyler Bass also missed the XP on the Bills TD).
The second half, however, was all Buffalo. They got the ball to start the second half and marched down the field, ending in the end zone on a 33-yard Devin Singletary run (Bills would go for and get the 2-point conversion on a Josh Allen to Khalil Shakir connection) giving Buffalo a 14-10 lead. The Bills defense would force a fumble on Chicago’s next drive and would quickly capitalize and end up in the end zone once again! This time on a 27-yard James Cook run! (21-10). Later in the 3rd quarter, Buffalo would once again be driving when Gabe Davis would fumble and Chicago would recover basically at midfield. The Bills defense would hold them off the scoreboard as the Bears would go for it on fourth down and not succeed.
The Bills next possession would also end in a turnover, Josh Allen would be intercepted deep in their own territory.
Chicago would take over on the Buffalo 20 but once again the Bills defense would stiffen and hold the Bears to just a field goal (21-13). However, it was still just a one-score game in the fourth quarter.
After both teams traded punts, the Bills would score touchdowns on their next (2) possessions (Josh Allen 4-yard TD run & a Josh Allen to Dawson Knox 13-yard pass) to bring the score to 35-13 and out of reach for the Bears.
A few takeaways I have… Penalties need to be addressed and QUICK! Buffalo had 9 in this game for 72 yards. Keep feeding James Cook! This kid is electric and needs more touches. 108 total yards and a touchdown all on limited touches.
