The Chiefs win their 7th straight AFC West title.

The Chiefs secure their 7th straight AFC West title with a win over the Houston Texans.

The Texans kept it close the whole game and actually had the lead for a majority of the first half. This is the second straight week that the Texans held their own against one of the better teams in the NFL.

The Texans got the scoring started on their 3rd possession thanks to a Davis Mills touchdown pass. The Chiefs would respond with a TD of their own when Mahomes hooked up with McKinnon for 20 yards. The Chiefs would force a Houston punt. However, in the very first play of the drive, Pacheco fumbled the ball and it was recovered by Houston. The Texans would capitalize with another TD to go up 14-7. After each team punted the Chiefs would drive 97 yards before the half and it was capped off when Mahomes found MVS for a TD, the PAT would be missed by Butker. Going into the half the Texans would lead 14-13.

The Chiefs would get the ball first and add a field goal to take their first lead of the game. When the Chiefs got the ball again they fumbled again, this time it was JuJu and it lead to another Houston touchdown. The Chiefs would find the end zone again and convert a 2-pt conversion to go up 3. The Texans would add a field goal, but the Chiefs had plenty of time. The Chiefs drove down to field goal range and gave Butker a chance to win it, he missed sending us into overtime.

The Chiefs would start with the ball in OT but would be forced to punt. The Chiefs’ defense finally did something and Frank Clark got the strip on Davis Mills and it was recovered by Willie Gay. The first offensive play for KC was a 26-yard run by McKinnon for a walk-off touchdown!

Note: Mahomes had 20 straight completions in this game! His final stat line was: 36/41, 336 yards, 2 TDs
