A very good Carolina Hurricane team came to Detroit on Tuesday and left with a 1-0 victory.
The loan goal came near the end of the first period when Brady Skjei got the power play goal past Husso.
The game here was secondary, however, because Red Wings Captain Dylan Larkin left the game after stopping the puck with his hand. No word on the extent of the injury, but after the game Head Coach Derek Lalonde said Larkin would not play against Minnesota.

On Wednesday, Detroit traveled to Minnesota without Captain Dylan Larkin to take on the Wild.
New Red Wings goalie Magnus Hellberg made his Detroit debut after being claimed off waivers from Seattle in November; this was also just his sixth NHL start.
Hellberg made 18 saves on 21 shots, losing the contest 4-1, as the Wings offense fell flat for the second game in a row. The Wings loan goal came from the young Winger Elmer Soderblom near the end of the second period.
Hellberg played well giving up 3 goals, the fourth was an empty netter. It is unclear how long Magnus will remain in Detroit but we welcome him to the team.

Saturday afternoon brought the Ottawa Senators to LCA. And this game had the same result as the other two games this week, a Red Wings loss, 6-3.
The two teams were tied at three after two periods and until eight minutes into the third they remained tied. At that point, Ottawa scored on a power play goal by Claude Giroux. The other two goals happened with the Wings on the power play! That’s right Detroit gave up to short-handed goals in the third period of a one-goal game.

Detroit (13-11-6) is starting to slip and injuries are taking their toll on the team and we are only approximately one quarter through the season.
The Red Wings will right the ship and everything will be fine fans. We just have to weather this losing streak.
