As a lifelong Rams fan, I have witnessed many more bad seasons than good. These last few seasons have spoiled me. In all my years of being a fan, I’m sure I have seen plenty of 3-9 teams. However, I have never seen a 3-9 team rise and rejuvenate a fan base when all seemed lost.
Down by six, 1:45 to go in the game. The Raiders punter AJ Cole punts the ball to the Ram’s two-yard line. Raiders special team players lose their absolute minds, they believe they just sealed the game. In comes Baker Mayfield.
Long story short Baker throws absolutely beautiful passes to Skowronek and Jefferson to seal the game with nine seconds remaining. Rams win 17-16 over a hot Raiders team.
This team has shown resilience in tough times and I’m so excited to see them next year. I believe Baker can bring a spark to the team that will resonate even after he leaves the team. So for that, thank you Baker.
