On Tuesday the Wolfpack played host to the FIU Panthers. State started hot and never looked back scoring 57 points in the first half. They were led by senior guards Casey Morsell who had a career-high 26 points on 6-7 shooting from deep, and Jarkel Joiner who also had 26 points on 6-8 shooting from 3. This was the best game freshman LJ Thomas has played, he finished with 12 points on 5-7 shooting from the field. The final was 107-74 moving the Wolfpack to 3-0.
On Saturday NC State welcomed the Elon Phoenix, in what was a pretty close game throughout, but Elon could never get over the hump and State would win 74-63. State was probably more focused on the other upcoming trip to the Bahamas for the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament they’ll be in next week. Jack Clark was the most consistent player for NC State, finishing with 21 points and 9 rebounds. Senior big man Dusan Mahorcic played a big roll down low finishing with 9 points and 14 rebounds in 22 minutes.
NC State is back in action on Wednesday when they play the defending national champions the Kansas Jayhawks on Wednesday at noon.
