Maple Leafs get back on track, Winning 2 out of 3 this week

After an 0-3 record in week 3, the Toronto Maple Leafs rebound to take 2 of 3 in the 4th week of the season. Their record improves to 6-4-2 in the early season. John Tavares continues to lead the Leafs offence, with the most points (14) and goals (7) on the team so far. Here are the game results from the week:

TOR 3 ANA 4 F/OT

Toronto was leading the charge for most of the game after goals from Auston Matthews (3) and Denis Malgin (2) in the first, and Calle Jarnkrok (2) in the third to give them a 3-1 lead. The Anaheim Ducks just wouldn’t quit as they scored 2 goals in the 3rd to tie the game at 3 and push it into overtime. Trevor Zegras would score the winning goal for the Ducks 2:15 into OT.

PHI 2 TOR 5

The Philadelphia Flyers didn’t stand a chance in this one. Toronto, led by 3 goals from John Tavares, scored 5 for the first time this season and outshot the Flyers 44-25.

BOS 1 TOR 2

The Leafs faced their biggest challenge yet in the young season, hosting the 10-1 (entering game) Boston Bruins. 2 goals from Auston Matthews (6) was all the Leafs needed as the defence and goaltender held the Bruins to just one goal from Brad Marchand (4), as the edged out the Bruins 2-1.

Next up the Leafs will head to North Carolina to face off against the Carolina Hurricanes to kick off the week. The game is scheduled for 5:00 PM ET.
