The Hornets opened their 2022/2023 season on the road against the Spurs. They outscored the Spurs in all 4 quarters and left San Antonio with a 129-102 victory. Top scorer for Charlotte: Terry Rozier (24 points). Top Scorer for San Antonio: Keldon Johnson (20 points). Biggest difference in the game was the 3-point shooting. Charlotte was 13/29 (44.8%) from outside the arch whereas San Antonio was only 7/34 (20.6%).
The Hornets would host the Pelicans a few days later for their home opener, but would fall 124-112. Top scorer for New Orleans: Jonas Valanciunas (30 points). Top scorer for Charlotte: Gordon Hayward (26 points). Biggest difference in the game was the rebounding… The Pelicans got 53 defensive rebounds and 15 offensive rebounds compared to the Hornets 37 defensive and 11 offensive.
Charlotte will have 4 games in the upcoming week (3 of which are on the road). Hopefully by this time next week we will still be looking as promising as the first 2 games.
