Well, it’s hard to break down exactly what happened in this game. It was absolutely one of the more decent games of the season this far.. for the Chiefs.
The 49ers came out hot! JG was throwing bombs down the field left and right, yet we still couldn’t manage to get actual touchdowns and ended up with 9 points worth of field goals (don’t worry Gould was spot on, of course). CMC did okay for only being on the team for a total of 3 days with 8 rushes for 38 yards and 2 catches for 24 yards. We stuck with Wilson Jr for a majority of the run game and had Kittle out there doing what he does best, with a total of 6 out of 9 targets caught for 98 yards.
The Chiefs came out doing what they do best, at one point throwing a completed 57 yard pass. Our defense for lack of better words was “walked like a dog” we were letting catches happen nonstop with receivers just running right by us or us not able to execute a tackle. Charvarius Ward did his former team one last solid and just could not keep up with anyone, allowing many deep passes to be successful. We were able to successfully execute one muffed punt. Which unfortunately ended with Jimmys one (and only) pick for the game.
There was a lot of fault in our team, from scoring only 9 when those 3 touchdowns would’ve saved the game, to losing a ball in the redzone, and getting a safety at the end of the game. To letting the chiefs convert on plays that were 3rd and 20. We just didn’t play well. But there was also some very bad calls from the referees. At one point there was a camera zoomed in and you could clearly see a chiefs player holding a 49ers defender by the back of his jersey, and then another where our receiver got a holding call, and as they replayed the penalty, you could see the poor guy holding the chiefs player trying to push him away, because he had his hand wrapped around his neck.
But at the end of it we fell to the KC Chiefs, miserably, once again. It really was a remake of Super Bowl 54. And I never want to see either of them again!
