Game 1: vs Ottawa (4-1 Buffalo Win)
The Buffalo Sabres opened their season at home on 10/13 against the Ottawa Senators. Ottawa jumped out to a 1 goal advantage in the first period but that would be all they would score as Craig Anderson would shut down the Senators offense for the remaining 2 periods.
Buffalo would get on the board in the 2nd period and take the lead thanks to goals by JJ Peterka & Rasmus Dahlin.
Buffalo added 2 goals in the 3rd period (both by Victor Olofsson) en route to a 4-1 Sabres win.
Game 2: vs Florida (3-4 Panthers win)
The 1st period saw a lot of scoring, as both teams would score 2 goals each: Alex Tuch & Zemgus Girgensons for Buffalo and Colin White & Matthew Tkachuk for Florida.
Florida would add 2 more goals in the 2nd period (Aaron Ekblad & Brandon Montour) whereas Buffalo would only score once (Rasmus Dahlin) making it 4-3 Florida after 2 periods.
Nobody would score in the 3rd period and Florida would hang on for a 4-3 win.
