Phillies take Game 1 of the NLDS in Atlanta

The Philadelphia Phillies defeat the Atlanta Braves in Game 1 of the NLDS 7-6. Game 2 is set for Wednesday and will also be in Atlanta.

The bats were flying today. First inning Nick Castellanos and Alec Bohm each have RBIs to bring in J.T. Realmuto and Bryce Harper for scores respectively. Travis d’Arnaud homers for the Braves in the bottom of the 2nd inning to make it a 2-1 game. In the top of the 3rd, Bohm hits a sacrifice fly to bring in Realmuto for a score and Jean Segura’s RBI brings in Castellanos for a score to make it 4-1. In the top of the 4th, a Castellanos RBI sends Rhys Hoskins and Edmundo Sosa home to bring the Phillies up 6-1. In the top of the 5th, a Sosa sacrifice fly sends Jean Segura home for another score. Travis d’Arnaud comes back up to bat in the bottom of the 5th and with an RBI Double sends William Contreras and Matt Olson home to make it 7-3. From the 6th inning until the top of the 9th, the pitching for both teams was good enough for no runs to be scored. Then in the bottom of the 9th, Matt Olson hits a 3-run Home Run to bring the score to 7-6. Zach Eflin stays calm and is able to finish the inning and give the Phillies the 7-6 victory in game 1.
