To kick off the series, Shane McClanahan took the mound for the Rays and Shane Bieber for the Guardians. The story of this game was all Bieber. He was able to pitch deep into the 8th inning throwing 7 2/3 innings, 3 H, ER, BB, and 8 K’s. The Rays were able to put one on the board in the top of the 6th inning on a Jose Siri solo shot to put the Rays up 1-0.
Shane McClanahan was able to match Bieber as this game turned into a pitcher’s duel until the bottom of the 6th when Guardians Jose Ramirez blasts a 2-run shot to put the Guardians up 2-1.
With a very impressive start from Sugar Shane, the Rays’ bats once again fell silent for the rest of the game giving no support. McClanahan would go on to throw for 7 innings, 7 H, 2 ER, HR, and 5 K’s.
The Guardians go on to take Game 1 of the series, leaving the Rays with a win-or-go-home mentality.
Tyler Glasnow will be on the mound for the Rays in Game 2. The Bats need to wake up in this matchup if the Rays want any chance of keeping their postseason run intact. Rays Up!
