*Mini Rant Incoming*
When is enough going to be enough with this team? I can’t remember watching a Yankees team this pathetic since the early 2010 teams. The hitting is terrible (actually to be fair, you have to actually HIT THE BALL for the hitting to be considered bad). Good news is, they’re REALLY good at striking out. The pitching has completely fallen apart (minus Gerrit Cole, who had a masterpiece ruined by the bullpen). Now, for the first time since 1990, they find themselves dead last in the AL East. But hey, manager Aaron Boone has continually stated how much he likes the guys efforts out there… WHAT?! You know what, don’t even get me started on Aaron “Boonehead”, I could write up a Harry Potter length novel.
There will be some fans out there that will continually blame the injuries and that any team would do the same thing… Well, not every team has a roster salary pushing $280M either! It’s not just the fact that we’re missing some guys (not missing Josh Donaldson’s bat, that’s for sure), the guys we have out there are just BAD! Anthony Rizzo has completely disappeared at the plate (and then proceeds to laugh it up and crack jokes on the bench in between innings when his team is getting embarrassed). Anthony Volpe has gone ice cold once again, DJ LeMahieu is ice cold, the catching duo is luke warm at best (same could be said for the outfield rotation they are using). The best hitter on the team right now is Gleyber Torres (Giancarlo Stanton I would say is #2). But how can you win when almost the entire team isn’t hitting?? Fire your hitting coach? Yep, tried that. Sean Casey hasn’t made the immediate impact that he or Boone thought that he would. So what do you do now?
If I’m being honest, I wouldn’t rush Aaron Judge back. I’d shut him down for the year and let him rehab and get back to 100% for next season. Then I would be sellers at the trade deadline (will never happen, but they should). They need to shed some of the dead weight and salaries. But no, all the rumors you see circling are about how they are interested in x,y&z players… Why? Unless you bring in a guy like Ohtani (possibly Soto), what impact are some middle of the road players going to make on a roster that just doesn’t care about winning? Look at last year, we go out and make a “splash” for Frankie Montas… He was injured when we traded for him, pitched terribly and now most likely won’t even pitch at all in the 2023 season!
I’m sure I’m forgetting some other talking points, but for now I’m going to go take a breath and try and remind myself that the NFL season is less than 50 days away and start looking forward to that…

The Yankees return the the East Coast on Thursday and then will host the KC Royals starting on Friday for a weekend series in the Bronx. ON PAPER, this should be a Yankees series win… But then again, so should’ve been Colorado & LA!
